Taking inspiration from an art installation in Amsterdam, Southend Festival brought a vibrant splash of colour to the town’s Market Place area, just off of Alexander Street, last Saturday (29 June).
Local residents and visitors to the town centre joined artist Andy Downes and his team to paint bricks, the pavement and give the street a radical makeover.
The sunny weather added to the occasion and there was an ‘amazing atmosphere’, as one of the participants put it.
A playful paint fight even broke out, with Andy’s beard also given a lick of gloss…
