Chesney Hawkes last week announced that his son, Casey, will play Lamar in this community show at the Brentwood Centre on 29th and 30th June.

Following the huge success with two sell out performances of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat in April 2018, legendary pop artist Chesney Hawkes has kindly agreed to return to the Brentwood Centre this June to take the leading role of Jesus in GODSPELL. He will be joined by his son, Casey, who will play Lamar. This is a first for father and son who have never worked together before.

In the youtube video (link below) Chesney talks about his role in the show with Casey, including a special GODSPELL offer for February and praises the great work of community wellbeing programme Chat 1st based at the Brentwood Centre.

Producer Mark Reed said, ‘I am so excited about this new production, our Director Peter Dayson has some amazing ideas.
It is a fabulous show, written by Stephen Schwartz who went on to write Wicked! GODSPELL includes songs
such as Beautiful City and Day by Day which I am sure many people will recognise. Chesney was such a driving force behind Joseph and enabled us to put on a magnificent show, something that we hope to repeat with GODSPELL.’

Chesney Hawkes said ‘I am so pleased to be back at the Brentwood Centre, they made me so welcome for Joseph and it will be great to be back. I am so glad that Joseph was not ‘the one and only’ time I performed in Brentwood, it is such a great community to be a part of. There are some amazing tunes, I cannot wait to perform Beautiful City, a song that tells of a man’s dreams to build a better world for himself and those around him. That is something that as a father I would love to do for my beautiful wife and children, and am sure we have all dreamed about. The sense of community and the work that Nicky Smith is doing through Chat 1 st is so important and I look forward to supporting that. Our wellness and mental health is so important.’
