In the lead up to the release of ONCE UPON A TIME IN LONDON, we look at 5 scene stealing performances by gritty London actor Mark Harris
BONDED BY BLOOD 2
This grittier, less glamorous sequel has been described by Essex Boys authority Bernard O’Mahoney as the most realistic depiction of the story. Harris plays the enigmatic Mr X, a malicious underworld kingpin who anonymously tells all to O’Mahoney (played by Johnny Palmiero in the film). Harris has the film’s best scene, dressed as a malevolent clown replete with vampire fangs who sneaks into a hospital and gives an unwitting patient both barrels of his sawn off shotgun.
GBH/RIOT
This underrated London crime thriller, with a backdrop of the infamous riots, has a strong cast including Nick Never, Kellie Shirlie and Roland Manookian and is efficient directed by Simon Phillips. Harris plays cop Nevern’s wicked father – a spiteful, sadistic lifer. The tension between the two positively crackles.
THE HATTON GARDEN JOB
Ronnie Thompson’s heist blockbuster gave Harris a change of pace, fighting on the side of the law as the copper chasing the ageing crooks behind the iconic robbery. Harris gives a measured, deliberate performance and more than holds his own with the veteran cast.
ONCE UPON A TIME IN LONDON
Harris is back on the right side of the law in this forthcoming gangster epic which stars Terry Stone, Leo Gregory and Jamie Foreman. Harris is once more a hardened detective this time crossing swords with underworld legend Jack ‘Spot.’
ABDUCTED
Harris plays the lead in a Taken style thriller, flashily shot in Los Angeles and London. He gives an emotional rollercoaster of a performance as an alcoholic father struggling to find his kidnapped daughter. Strong action sequences give Harris an opportunity to show off his natural physicality in this gripping thriller.
