An information hub offering insight into a number of borough-wide projects and organisations is opening up in the Eastgate Centre, Basildon.
The hub has been created by the Eastgate Centre with Basildon Council supporting it by providing a range of pre-existing information about regeneration projects that are underway around the borough.
Visitors to the hub, which is located on the first floor of the Eastgate Centre near Santa’s Grotto next to The Entertainer, will be able to view plans for Basildon Town Centre’s East Square as well as the overall regeneration of the town centre.
There will also be information available on some of the council’s housing schemes at Pound Lane, Quendon Road and Roman Way as well as general information on services and what’s on at the Towngate Theatre.
Cllr Gavin Callaghan, Basildon Council’s Chairman of the Policy and Resources Committee, said: “I am pleased the Eastgate Centre has approached us and other organisations to contribute to this community resource.
“This is an exciting time to be in Basildon with a number of key projects underway which will make the borough a place to be proud of with strong safe and healthy communities and access to quality homes and vibrant town centres.
“Residents will be able to find out more about the council’s house building company, Sempra Homes, and how we are increasing the housing offer for key workers in the borough with exciting new shared ownership schemes.
“I promised we would put the council back at the heart of the community, promoting our services and working with residents to let them know how the council can support them and our businesses. This is a great step to ensuring the council is more accessible to the public and not seen to be shying away in an ivory tower.”
