Seven Special Constables have been recognised with awards during a special ceremony by Essex Police
The annual event earlier this month was to celebrate the commitment Specials make to help protect their local communities. During the event, an awards ceremony was held to recognise Specials that have gone above and beyond in order to protect others
The first award to be dished out was the Salter Cup, presented annually to the team that has completed the highest amount of hours per officer on average during a one-year period. This year, the Casualty Reduction Section Specials scooped the gong.
The second award was the Norman Dooley Trophy which is awarded annually to a Special Constable that has displayed exceptional skill, courage or determination in dealing with a situation either on or off duty. This year, Sc Callum Lawrie based in Tendring was awarded the trophy.
The third award to be awarded was the Chief Officers Award which is presented annually to a Special Constable that has best supported our aims and objectives to effectively police their community. This year, Special Inspector Kelly Bingham based in Basildon was recognised.
The fourth award, the Recruitment Champion Award, is awarded annually to a Special Constable that has best supported our recruitment team. This year, Sc Spencer Worth based at Stansted Airport scooped the award.
The fifth award, the Student Officer of the Year Award, is awarded annually to a Special Constable training at the college who has excelled in their training with us. The award was presented to Sc Katy Darling based in Harlow.
Our penultimate award, the Team of the Year Award. After careful deliberation, the judging panel crowned the Essex Special Constabulary Street Triage Team as winners.
Last but not least, the final award was presented to the Top Tweeter. With over 60 Special Constables on Twitter, the competition was tough. Thurrock Special, Sc Claire Fox, came out on top and scooped the award for her informative tweets about her role.
