Meet Flint and Trinity – named after Persimmon Homes’ developments in Clacton.
Sarah and Mark Harris moved to the seaside town at the end of 2023 after buying a three-bedroom semi-detached home at Flint Grange.
The couple and their beloved parrot quickly settled into their new life, enjoying the fact they had amenities close by as well as plenty of open countryside and the famous beach.
When spring arrived they got to work on the garden, keen to make the most of their very own outside space.
“We were moving some pots and a wild baby rabbit popped up. We wanted to look after him so went to buy a hutch but when we returned he had disappeared,” said Mrs Harris.
The 55-year-old continued: “Once we had the hutch it seemed only right we got a rabbit, and so Flint became part of the family that spring,” said Sarah. “He is a lion-haired rabbit and has mottled grey colouring, so we knew we had to call him Flint. It was just apt.”
Keen to expand their brood, the couple added another rabbit last summer, just as five-star housebuilder Persimmon Homes Essex started working on the new Trinity Fields development a stone’s throw from Flint Grange.
“We had to call the new rabbit Trinity, it seemed the natural choice as he came after Flint.”
The rabbits are tucked up for winter in their hutch on the couple’s decking, but come summer they will once again be roaming the garden.
Mr and Mrs Harris said: “We were so happy to have such a good-sized garden, we had been living in a one-bedroom rented flat in Braintree and we just weren’t able to have any rabbits.
“Moving here gave us the space we wanted and meant Rocky the parrot even got his own bedroom.
“We chose Clacton because there was a real community feel, and there were plenty of shops and facilities nearby.
“As we get older we know we will really benefit from having those amenities on hand. We had been renting but we had worked hard to build up a deposit and we felt the prices from Persimmon were really competitive. We got the home we wanted for a price we were happy with.”
Louise Trail, Sales Director for Persimmon Homes Essex, said: “We are delighted that Mr and Mrs Harris have settled at Flint Grange and really made their house into a home, for them and their beloved animals.”
Trinity Fields in Clacton offers a range of two and three-bedroom homes priced from £260,000.
