The Essex Cornerstone Foundation, created by young Essex Freemasons, recently delivered 250 essential homeless packs to HARP Southend, a local charity dedicated to supporting individuals facing homelessness.
HARP is Southend’s leading homeless charity. providing housing, advice and support to over 1,000 people each year who either are experiencing homelessness or are at risk of losing their home.
Each pack was carefully curated to provide warmth and hygiene, and to those experiencing homelessness. With items such as toothbrushes, soap, heat blankets, socks, hats, and gloves, these packs offer practical support during the toughest months of the year.
Upon receiving the donation, a representative from HARP Southend expressed their gratitude, saying:
“Thank you so much for this donation! These packs are perfect for our clients. They really cover three immediate needs: warmth, hygiene, and dignity, which are especially crucial during winter.”
The delivery marks the first of four planned donations, with a total of 1,000 essential packs set to be distributed to homelessness charities across Essex over the forthcoming year
Homelessness is a growing issue
Southend faces serious problems with homelessness, poverty, and inequality, and younger individuals are disproportionately affected. With these essential packs, the young Essex Freemasons hope to provide a small but meaningful measure of relief and support to those in need.
