Colchester City Council’s Street Care and Safety Team is proud to have been shortlisted as finalists for Keep Britain Tidy’s Team of the Year award, with the award ceremony taking place on 30 January 2025.
Keep Britain Tidy (KBT) is an organisation that works to stop littering, reduce waste, and improve the areas where we live and work. Colchester City Council collaborates with KBT on a range of initiatives, including litter picking with our Litter Warriors, removing chewing gum from city pavements with the help of the Chewing Gum Task Force funding, and organising numerous action days to tackle street cleaning, fly-tipping, graffiti, and overgrown areas.
This important partnership work, alongside the council’s dedication to keeping Colchester clean and safe, is why an application was made to be shortlisted as Team of the Year, which was happily accepted.
Cllr Martin Goss, Portfolio Holder for Waste, Neighbourhood Services and Leisure, said: “The hard work of our Street Care and Safety Team does not go unnoticed: they go above and beyond every day to keep Colchester clean, safe, and welcoming for residents and visitors.
“Being shortlisted for Keep Britain Tidy’s Team of the Year award highlights the strength of our partnership with KBT and the positive impact we can achieve by working together. We’re proud of the team and wish them the best of luck at the awards ceremony.”
