The Managing Director of an East Anglia business has been presented with an Honorary Achievement Award by national trade body the BMF (Builders Merchants Federation).
Tim Rowbottom, Managing Director at Collier & Catchpole based in Colchester, was chosen as recipient of the award by BMF CEO John Newcomb.
Mr Rowbottom has served as a member of the board at BMF for seven years.
He said: “Joining the board was, in itself, a great honour and to have been part of an illustrious team that have helped to guide the organisation to its current status as a leader in the building materials sector has been extremely rewarding.
“Two things make this industry a special place: the people and the variety. It’s full of unique characters who understand that relationships matter more than numbers. Success here isn’t about academic credentials but about interpersonal skills.
“While it seems straightforward, the industry’s true complexity comes from the sheer diversity of products and customer needs—from large contractors with strict deadlines to DIY enthusiasts seeking a single tap washer.
“This variety ensures that every day is different and challenging for everyone involved. Building materials supply is a special sector to work in and receiving the Honorary Achievement Award from the BMF is very much the icing on the cake.”
Mr Rowbottom was presented with Honorary Achievement Award by John Newcomb at the BMF’s annual Conference and Awards held at the Leonardo Hinckley Island Hotel in Leicestershire.
John Newcomb said: “Congratulations go to Tim for the dedication and hard work that is recognised with this award.
“His contribution to the BMF and to the building materials supply sector has set an impressive example for others to follow and his work has had a very real impact within our sector.
“The BMF Annual Conference and Awards are an opportunity to acknowledge the suppliers, service members and individuals across the sector who contribute to creating excellence in building materials supply.”
