This September, ACL Essex will host Advice Days at their centres. From 4 to 13 September, 10.30am to 7.30pm, staff will be on-hand to provide friendly support and advice to talk through learning options.
ACL Essex offers a range of accredited courses and qualifications that will start in September and run throughout the academic year. These include diverse GCSEs in English, Maths and Science, plus Hairdressing, Business and Accounting courses.
Lisa Jarentowski, Principal at ACL Essex, is keen to welcome learners to the Advice Days this September.
She said: “We offer a range of courses for adults aged 19 or over and provide plenty of opportunities for people to pursue the career they want. It all starts here. We have a range of courses and qualifications to choose from, as well as apprenticeships for anyone aged 16 and over. This September, we’ll be on-hand to provide the very best information, advice and guidance to help you figure out your next steps.”
She continued: “It’s never too late to learn; whether you want a career in teaching, care, accountancy, business and much more, we have a course to support you. Pop in to one of our centres to chat to one of our friendly team this September.”
One learner who has benefitted from ACL Essex’s GCSE English course is Helen Amstel. At 11 years old, Helen was unable to write her own name. Last year, Helen, aged 60, started her GCSE in English with ACL Essex and completed the course this year with a grade 5.
Helen said: “I wanted to do the GCSE English course at ACL Essex because I work with children with dyslexia. I went into the course feeling quite nervous. Although I didn’t find the course easy, my tutor was brilliant and open to new ideas. I never thought I’d get to a place where I’d be able to do it but I have.”
Helen added: “I would recommend ACL Essex to anyone who wanted to develop their skills, whatever area they’re in. They have so many wonderful courses that can help you grow as an individual and build your confidence.”
As well as accredited courses and qualifications, ACL Essex also offers the chance to take up an apprenticeship. Apprentices gain valuable experience in the workplace, earn money while they learn and work towards a qualification at the end of their course.
There are also fully funded opportunities to learn, such as Skills Bootcamps. These are 12-week, subject-specific courses that boost learners’ skills in certain sectors. Essex residents can also access the Nightingale Care Bursary and Poppins Bursary for funded opportunities in the healthcare and childcare sectors.
A number of Essential Skills courses are also provided at ACL Essex. Learners can work towards a nationally recognised qualification in areas like English, Maths, Science and Digital. The courses also help open doors to employment and further education opportunities.
