Helen Rollason Cancer Charity will again be holding its popular “Ride For Helen” cycle rides through the lovely Essex countryside. Now in its 11th year, the event is on Sunday 12th May 2024 and registration is open on the charity’s website here.
There are six cycling routes to suit all ages and capabilities: 6 miles, 15 miles, 30 miles, 50 miles, 65 miles and an exciting new 100 miles route for keen cyclists. All rides start and end in the grounds of The Crix, in Hatfield Peverel and they will be sign-posted and manned by volunteer marshals. There will be refreshment stops along the way and, in the grounds of The Crix, there will be entertainment, food and drink caterers, as well as first aid and mechanic support.
As well as enjoying a healthy day out in Essex, cyclists will be helping to raise funds to support local people living with cancer. If you don’t wish to cycle, you might like to help on the day as a volunteer. Contact the charity’s fundraising team on 01245 380719 for information about volunteering.
Zoe Jay, Head of Fundraising said: “Each rider will be supporting those living with cancer. With 1 in 2 of us facing a cancer diagnosis in our lifetime, we are so grateful to everyone that attends events like this either as a participant or a volunteer. We need to ensure that we continue to host successful fundraising events to enable us to be here to offer our vital support in the future”.
Chris Dale, Group Managing Director at Vesta, the headline sponsor for the event said:
“Sadly, many of our team and families have been affected by cancer so the Helen Rollason Cancer Charity is both a cause close to our hearts as well as our community. It means a lot to us to be able to do our bit in support and help raise more awareness. We’re very proud to be part of it.”
