Three dogs and more than 50 people took part in a Santa Dash at Writtle University College (WUC) on Friday 8th December.
Students and staff raised over £250 for Chelmsford Food Bank with a three-kilometre fancy-dress fun run.
All runners wore Santa hats, and some took part in themed outfits, ranging from Christmas trees to a festive axolotl.
WUC’s Sport Development Officer, Briony Findlay, organised the event. She said: “Thank you to everyone who took part. We were delighted to see so many people taking a break from their coursework and exam revision to get outside and raise money for an important cause.”
Chelmsford Food Bank provides nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people. It’s part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.
The Santa Dash took place on WUC’s beautiful rural estate, just two miles from Chelmsford. The route cut though an arboretum, before looping past the campus reservoir and green fields, then finishing in front of the historic, ivy-covered main building.
“We had a great time,” said students Beth and Ellie. “It’s good to know we’ve raised so much for charity!”
