Towergate is a step closer to crowning the winner of its nationwide contest to find Britain’s best beach hut, with the 10 finalists now revealed – and among them are five in three Essex coastal resorts.

One of two finalists to be found in Walton-on-the-Naze is Let’s Be Frank, owned by Susan Steel. This immaculate hut is decorated in seaside blues and white throughout, with décor and comfort that would grace any home.

Also in Walton-on-the-Naze is Anita Headley’s Forget-me-Not – also resplendent in fresh coastal colours and a real oasis of comfort by the sea.

On Harwich and Dovercourt beach is hut No. One, which boasts every home comfort and where owner Stuart Branch is always on hand with a cup of tea and a seat to watch the world go by.

The other two Essex finalists are on Mersea Island.

Kitty is a charming and pretty hut with a bright interior that owner Jayne Eyers loves to share with various charities, providing a haven for people who need a tranquil escape.

And finally, Lester Goody is the proud owner of Blue Breeze which has a boldly nautical theme and an impressive welcoming exterior.

Beach Hut of the Year has attracted entries from all around the UK coast, and now the public can help choose the winner by voting for their favourite top ten finalist at www.towergateinsurance.co.uk/beachhutoftheyear. Voting ends on Monday 24th July
