Children at Hinguar Primary School in Shoeburyness have been invited to take part in a competition to design their dream home.

Bellway – which is planning to build new homes on a site next to the school, off New Garrison Road in Shoeburyness – has organised the project as part of its work within the local community.

Pupils in Years 1 to 6 were briefed on the task by Bellway Essex Sales Manager Kate Jones, who visited the school. The winning designs will be put on display at the development, formerly part of Shoebury Garrison.

Headteacher Alison Waite, said: “It will be an experience for the children to witness the transformation of the site and see the different stages of the house building process. During the assembly, which began our Aspirations Week, Kate was able to answer the children’s questions, in particular about the conservation of the wildlife that currently lives on the site. She was able to reassure them that this is a priority before any work begins.

“We are looking forward to seeing the children’s competition entries displayed for all the community to see and hope that this opportunity will inspire some of our pupils to become architects, designers, project managers or any of the other roles within the housebuilding industry.”

“We hope the competition will encourage pupils to express their imagination and creativity and will be a lot of fun for them to take part in. We are really looking forward to seeing the ideas they come up with.”
