WHAT’S ON AT MERCURY THEATRE COLCHESTER

Mercury Theatre Colchester has a wide range of entertainment scheduled for this month including, as part of the theatre’s continuous support for the LGBTQ+ community, multiple events to celebrate Pride Month.

The theatre’s Pride Month offerings include the riotous comedy cabaret spectacular Viva Burlesque! (15th June, Theatre) starring Carli Norris (EastEnders, Hollyoaks, Holby City) and the Mercury’s legendary Panto Dame Antony Stuart-Hicks; Santi & Naz (22nd-23rd June, Studio), a play which explores queer love in pre-partition India and LATES – Cocktail Cabaret (24th June, Café Bar), a free event hosted by ‘King and Queen of Colchester’, Cyro and Flick, which will celebrate and champion local queer talent including drag, dance, comedy, drama and poetry.

The theatre’s family theatre offerings in June include Freckle Productions’ smash-hit adaptation of Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s Zog (16th-18th June, Theatre), which is filled with and the interactive show Professor Slug’s House of Bugs (24th June, Studio), from the co-creator of the award-winning One Duck Down.

The Comedy Network will return this month to the Mercury’s Studio for Fringe Previews on 16th June. This month will see Josh Weller (Age Against the Machine) and Luke Kempner (Gritty Police Drama: A One Man Musical) present their work in progress shows.

The theatre will welcome a range of music and comedy acts throughout the month including comedy duo act The Scummy Mummies: Greatest Hits (9th & 10th June, Theatre), the UK’s No. 1 vocal quartet G4 Live (13th June, Theatre), Tina Turner tribute What’s Love Got To Do With It? (21st June, Theatre), the acclaimed The Simon & Garfunkel Story (22nd June, Theatre) and UK 1950s styled rock and roll band The Boulevards (23rd June, Theatre)
Alan Fletcher, best known for playing Karl Kennedy for over 28 years in the hit TV soap opera Neighbours, brings an evening of stories and songs as he looks back and celebrates his time so far on the show and looks ahead to the future in The Doctor Will See You Now (14th June, Theatre).

The theatre will also host National Theatre Live screenings of the Olivier award-winning production of Life of Pi (10th & 20th June, Studio) and Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s box-office record-breaking Fleabag (17th June, Studio).
