A LEADING political commentator says Joe Biden told him he disliked Boris Johnson.
Freddy Gray, the deputy editor of the Spectator, was speaking to GB News in a section discussing whether the US President disliked Britain.
Mr Gray told Eamonn Holmes and Isbael Webster: “Biden loves playing on his Irishness. He’s not as Irish as he pretends he is, but he loves playing on it and I think he thinks part of his Irishness means disliking Britain.
“He’s made that quite clear, I don’t think that’s being prissy and sort of insecure about it from a British perspective, he has made it clear he doesn’t like Britain.
“He doesn’t like Brexit at all and he was very against Boris Johnson.
“I once met him actually and asked him what he thought about Britain, and he just sort of muttered that he didn’t like Boris Johnson and then wandered off.”
Mr Gray also commented on remarks made by Donald Trump in an exclusive GB News interview in which he said Mr Biden’s decision to snub the Coronation was disrespectful.
“I think what’s interesting watching Trump, is that he’s always been very enthusiastic about the monarchy and so on.
“I do think when he was president, Britain missed a trick really because he wanted to cooperate with Britain. He wanted to do a great trade deal and all that stuff.
“Our government, a lot of civil servants and so on, were so disgusted and appalled by Trump, perhaps rightly on some things, in fact, the whole establishment, they never wanted to work with him.”
He added: “I remember speaking to people inside Trump’s administration. I spoke to Steve Bannon and he said it was weird because we would come to these meetings saying we want to do something with you guys, we want to do this, we want to do that.
“The Cabinet and officials on the British side was sort of a bit offish and disgusted. So, I think Britain missed the trick there, yeah.”
