Book lovers across Essex are being invited to share their favourite book and join this coming weekend’s #LovetoRead celebration.
A national initiative, led by the BBC, the weekend will see Essex library staff and visitors posting book selfies holding a copy of their favourite book and a board indicating how the book makes them feel.
To join the campaign, simply tweet a photo to @essexlibraries using the hashtag #Libraries #LovetoRead.
You can also join in a national online poll to find the UK’s favourite book. To register your vote visit: goscl.com/love-to-read-poll/before 30 November. The top reads will be announced in the New Year.
Cllr Anne Brown, Cabinet Member responsible for libraries, launched the celebration with her suggested read of Clementine Churchill by her daughter Mary Soames and said: “We all love curling up with a good book, and this celebration is all about sharing your favourite reads with other people.
“This is a great opportunity to be part of a national weekend of book sharing, and who knows what great recommendations you might pick up in return.”
