GB NEWS presenter Eamonn Holmes has praised the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge following the end of their controversial tour of the Caribbean.
Hitting back at critisicm which the pair havde received the Irish broadcaster said: “I saw a husband and wife holding hands. I saw them looking very well looking very much in love, Kate looking absolutely impeccable, various outfits.
“I saw a lot of happiness and I was very impressed politically about William talking about the Commonwealth and maybe he will never lead it…?
Eamonn, host of Breakfast With Isabel & Eamonn on GB News, also praised Prince William for breaking with convention during the tour.
“The prince has broken away from the long-standing tradition of his grandmother the Queen who stayed away from political statements and followed the mantra ‘never complain, never explain'”, he added.
Eamonn and Isabel Webster were talking during an interview with royal Kevin Craig, founder of the public relations firm PLMR which has been involved with many royal events.
In it Craig said that the couple were “unlucky” with the image of of children reaching through a fence during a visit and there had been some PR mistakes.
“Actually, when you look at the speech of William, we’re very lucky. We’ve got a modern royal leader and I think he’s very agile and I think he’s a breath of fresh air.”
He added: “I suspect they were very reliant on the host of the planning of this and of course it’s been two years since there’ve been any royal tours because of Covid so people were slightly out of practice.
“The things also about the protests on arrival, I mean that that’s an inescapable part of the modern world now debates about slavery.
“And I think, I think it’s hard for William and Kate, there will be questions to ask of their team. I just think on this occasion, they’ve been unlucky…a bit more preparation and walkthrough of the photoshoots would have assisted.”
