The Royal Hospital School, located in Holbrook, Ipswich, is a leading independent co-educational boarding and day school for 11-18 year olds, providing an outstanding, full and broad education fit for the modern world.
Founded in 1712 in Greenwich, London, the Royal Hospital School moved to its spectacular site, set in 200 acres of Suffolk countryside overlooking the River Stour, in 1933. The school has continued to develop its purpose-built site and has grown in size and reputation to become one of East Anglia’s leading independent schools.
The school has connections with the British Royal Family and is the only UK independent school to have ever been continuously granted the Queen’s Banner. It flies its own Admiralty-approved Royal Hospital School Blue Ensign flag.
The school also has a unique naval heritage and is one of only two UK schools whose students have the privilege of wearing Royal Navy uniforms, with the Royal Hospital School marching band being a perennial part of school life.
The Royal Hospital School focuses on inspiring pupils to pursue their interests and talents, reach their ambitions and develop essential life skills. Great importance is placed on balancing academic work with interests and achievements outside the classroom.
Today the Royal Hospital School is a modern, forward-thinking HMC school anchored on 300 years of history and achievement.
