Three designate Non-Executive Members (NEMS) have been appointed in preparation for the anticipated launch of the Mid and South Essex Integrated Care Board (ICB) in July.

Joe Fielder, Dr Neha Issar-Brown and George Wood (further details in Notes to Editor) have been appointed as the legislation to create integrated care systems continues its ongoing Parliamentary process. The Bill incorporates the proposals to form an NHS statutory Integrated Care Board, on which the NEMS will sit.

Professor Michael Thorne CBE, Chair designate for Mid and South Essex Integrated Care Board, said:

“I’m delighted to be able to announce these key appointments and warmly welcome Joe, Neha, and George to the team. Already excellent individuals in their own right, their combined experience and skills will be increasingly valuable to support establishing our new organisation.

“Supporting myself as the designate chair, as well as contributing to the ICB strategy and direction, our new appointees will have particular roles as chairs of Board committees in holding the ICB to account for the performance of the whole system and scrutinising decision making in relation to the governance of the organisation, workforce, population health and financial resources – to better serve the interests of our 1.2 million residents.

“I look forward to working with them as we move closer to the launch of our Integrated Care Board and Integrated Care Partnership on 1 July 2022 subject of course to the ongoing parliamentary process”.
