Tech startup CAPTIVATIUN have engineered AI-driven technology that allows you to remotely change the colour of your nails in under a minute – the world’s first Smart Nails.
After being inspired by sci-fi movies and a scene out of Total Recall, the brains at CAPTIVATIUN created the Smart Nails Set to allow people to achieve salon-style nails at the click of a button in the comfort of their own home.
How does it work?
Users of the set will have access to thousands of nail art looks through a mobile app nail art library. Once the choice of colour has been confirmed, it’s transmitted onto the Smart Nails in under a minute, which can then be applied to the nail bed using medically-approved adhesive tape. This process can be repeated as many times as the user desires, getting rid of the need for multiple salon trips.

Why bother?
Not only will using these new Smart Nails save valuable time – it will also go a long way in offsetting damage done to the environment by the gel and acrylic nail industry. Acrylic nails are made from non-biodegradable plastics, and nail polish and its removers are considered hazardous waste because they are toxic and flammable. This means that when discarded, they sit in landfill and leak harmful chemicals into the soil.
