ITV might have just made their best decision yet to take on Lethal Weapon the hit US TV series and their friday 9pm slot is by far a great time to sit in front of the TV and enjoy and hour of hardcore action, edge of the seat thrills and the drama of being part of law enforcement brings.
Based on the hit movie franchise of the same name, LETHAL WEAPON tells the story of classic cop duo Riggs and Murtaugh, as they work a crime-ridden beat in modern-day Los Angeles. Grief-stricken after the loss of his young wife and unborn child, ex-Navy SEAL-turned-detective Martin Riggs (Clayne Crawford –Rectify) moves to California to “start over” at the LAPD. He’s paired up with Roger Murtaugh (Damon Wayans ), who’s just coming back to the job after a near-fatal heart attack.
Riggs’ penchant for diving headfirst into the line of fire immediately clashes with Murtaugh’s prudent, by-the-book technique. It’s clear from the moment they meet, that this partnership is doomed. But during their first case together, Riggs drags Murtaugh on a freeway chase and into a shootout with drug dealers and, despite his protests, the older cop feels more alive than he has in years. Meanwhile, Riggs gets a glimpse of why Murtaugh is so determined to get home safely at the end of each day — he’s got a family and a newborn baby of his own. By the time their investigation ends, Riggs realizes he may have found something worth living for — a partner and friend in Murtaugh. Even Murtaugh figures this arrangement might just work out after all. If only Riggs doesn’t get them killed first…
Soooo I think they could not have done it any better with Damon and Clayne for the two leads, I like their chemistry and how they just click, the way Clayne is introduced into the series is interesting to the viewers as the writers paint a picture of Martin Riggs being this out of control drunk but who is somehow always right and has good instincts and when you turn over to Damon’s character we see Roger Murtaugh a family man with everything that his partner Riggs hasnt got and this just adds to the emotion of their relationship.
For me its a straight 5/5 ! Its been said once and I am sure it will be said again, The Only Way Is Lethal Weapon.
