Ego Ella May returns with the official remix of ‘How Long ‘Til We’re Home’, one of the highlights from her critically acclaimed debut album ‘Honey For Wounds’.
Retaining the original messages of identity, desiderium and displacement the remix, produced by newcomer Josette Joseph, fuses Ego Ella May’s sharply observational lyrics with a sonic backdrop that blends elements of R&B and Soul with a very British Trip Hop/Experimental edge, topped off by a killer verse from North London hailing rapper Lex Amor.
‘Honey For Wounds’ is a soul-tingling blend of Jazz, R&B and Neo Soul vocal musicality. Incredibly honest self-penned, personal and observational lyrics are laced with tales of self-healing, protest, love and loss, global issues and more. This is all set to backdrop crafted with some of the most exciting creatives including Alfa Mist, Theo Croker, Eun, Melo-Zed, Oscar Jerome, Joe Armon-Jones (Ezra Collective), Wu-Lu, Eddie Hick (Sons of Kemet), Maralisa (Space Captain), Tom Excell, Andrew Ashong and more.
Ego Ella May has been nominated in the Best Jazz Act category at this year’s MOBO Awards, to be broadcast on YouTube on 9th December. ‘Honey For Wounds’ is out now on UpperRoom Records, the record label arm of actor/producer/activist John Boyega’s company UpperRoom Entertainment.
