Gayle Berry is a serial entrepreneur, led not by business but by her dreams to leave a ‘love legacy’ and her mission to change the lives of 100,000 mothers and babies. As the founder of Blossom & Berry, Gayle has collated poetic voices from mothers around the world to celebrate the bond between mother and child in a further effort to leave her ‘love legacy’- in a book titled ‘Mother Light’.
Gayle Berry, businesswoman and mother of three, founded Blossom & Berry from a passion and fascination of the bond between mother and child. Blossom & Berry is underpinned with a core belief in the importance of the first 1001 days of a baby’s life. Love, connection and community are at the heart of everything they do and Gayle’s legacy is to be of love.
Almost twenty years ago, Gayle was working in a fast-paced job as a Lawyer in the City of London when she had a change of heart on what really mattered to her. Driven by a bond with her own baby and a yearn to spend as much time as possible with her child, combined with a course on baby massage, Blossom & Berry was founded as a baby massage and yoga practice initially.
Blossom & Berry is now a global community of Mothers, all with the goal to give their baby the best possible start in life and to allow them to reach their full potential in the first 1001 days of life. Following the success of the ‘Love Bubble’ launch – a pack inspiring mother’s to see the silver linings and use lockdown as an opportunity to build a deeper connection with their babies – on creating this guide on nurturing and the power of love, it was from these discussions with Blossom & Berry trainers about the ‘Love Bubble’ that inspired Gayle to collate all the beautiful experiences of motherhood, with lockdown being the perfect time for members of the community to establish their feelings on paper through poems in ‘Mother Light’.
Mother Light has been created to shine a light on the beautifully varied experiences of motherhood from across the world. Gayle knew she couldn’t let go of all the amazing words, anecdotes and emotions the teachers of Blossom & Berry had shared. It is a collection of 70 poems written from the heart to honour all experiences of motherhood and to celebrate the precious love that flows from birth and from having a baby. It’s honest, vulnerable, joyous and brave. Celebrating the diversity in motherhood experiences and shines a light on the complex and diverse emotions from joy and love, to fear and anxiety.
Gayle explains the motivation behind her new passion project- “MotherLight promises to leave you feeling connected, refreshed and stronger than ever as a Mother in this unprecedented lockdown that we find ourselves in. Social isolation has provided us with more time and space to connect with ourselves and our emotions and be more consciously connected with self love. We hope that the book allows other mothers to feel more connected to each other.”
With the understanding that motherhood can be isolating at the best of times, the community that underpins Blossom & Berry and Gayle’s philosophy is essential now more than ever.
All profits from the book sales will go to the mother and baby health initiative charitable project in Malawi which Gail set up provides mother and baby education and sustainable feeding programs for over 750 mothers and babies a year. After initially volunteering in Malawi in 2014, Gayle has since received the Points ofLight Award from 10 Downing Street after raising £100,000 so the cause is incredibly close to her heart.
In reading the book, readers are not only gaining an insight and connection with the beauty of motherhood, but also contributing to Blossom & Berry’s goal to touch the lives of 100,000 babies, in 190 countries, with 5000 teachers.
