Here we go, second week of The Voice UK and if you read my review last week you would find I was disappointed with the first episode, to the extent that the adverts were a light relief. Here’s hoping they up there game with this episode. The coaches interaction is a major flaw, with their relationship being more artificial than Kylie Jenners lips. When I saw the section of them all dabbing, it was cute but again these coaches aren’t entertaining me
Capital B, they look like a group and compliment each other well, let’s hope there voices match their potential. Very musical theatre, they have sweet voices and they blend well together however they are more suited to the west end rather than mainstream pop. With no one turning until the last second it was a tense audition. The two coaches who turned were Tom and Gavin giving them in my opinion the weakest coaches on the panel, however the girls decided to go with Tom, poor Gavin.
Chelsea from Liverpool or should I say Pavarotti. The 29 year old belted out an opera song that had me hooked, although it wasn’t note perfect, she deserved a turn.
Charlie drew who has opened up for the likes of James Arthur and Skepta has to be a smash if he has a cv like this. However in true The Voice style he is just average, but his music is getting him through remixing One Dance by Drake. With Tom and Gavin being the only coaches to turn makes me wonder, how do you get Will.I.Am to turn his chair around. In true keeping with the show so far Charlie chose Tom (I just feel sorry for Gavin now)
Again the next sing has a nice jazz voice but her look is just wrong. With Jennifer and Gavin turning for her she obviously chose Miss Hudson, if I were you Gavin GO HOME!
Jamie Miller is next up and is finally a contestant under 29 and may have potential. With his song choice of Let it Go by James Bay he’s oozing potential making Jennifer and Gavin turn around. If the kid chooses Jennifer then Gavin should be highly humiliated right now. Did I speak to soon, sorry Gavin you got rejected for a fourth time this episode. Do you think they ran out of budget when it came to finding a fourth coach, ITV really scraping the barrel with Gavin.
The next contestant was the cowardly lion from The Wizard of Oz who didn’t want to miss a thing, but he did miss his pitch and tone. Surprisingly getting all coaches turning apart from Will (Understandable). This contestant is perfect for Gavin, so Lord Jesus please make Carter choose Gavin. Thank God that he went with Gavin. FINALLY.
Shannon Kitchen who busks in a prom dress is my favourite contestant so far on personality so Jesus it’s me again, tell me she can sing. It was very different to what I first though, however she is very talented and has a unique voice, but no one turned, which is slightly heartbreaking.
The Final act of the evening, Michelle is a backing singer who has a good look and her song choice is This is a mans world, Yawn. Michelle has a pleasant voice but is a typical backing vocalist who wouldn’t crack the top 10 in the uk. However she got Wills chair spinning. Michelle could go quite far in the competition.
My final thoughts on tonight’s show are not impressive with no improvement being made from last week. The ratings from the opening show were diabolical with BBC Ones Let It Shine beating it. If the show fails to improve then it will face cancellation or a major revamp. Thanks for reading my thoughts and I will be posting again very soon.
