Summer is set to continue for East of England (EOE) Coop stores in East Anglia as they launch a new range of locally produced ice cream and sorbet from Essex based, The Saffron Ice Cream Company, this week.
On the 1st October 2019, a true feast will fill freezer shelves to tempt shoppers who will be able to enjoy 7 flavours in 38 of the groups 122 food stores as part of their ‘Sourced Locally’ range.
The take home tubs will encompass some of the brand’s award-winning range including; Salted Butter Caramel, Summer Strawberries and Cream and Handpicked Blackberry which are produced using some ingredients of east Anglian origin. The producers Sherbet Lemon Sorbet, suitable for vegans and their most award-winning product, will also be available for purchase.
The EOE Coop’s ‘Sourced Locally’ initiative was founded in 2007 to care for the producer whilst working to create a sustainable future, and has grown to encompass 110 local producers supplying over 2500 products! The range specifically looks for products created with passion by local producers and those grown or produced locally to reduce food miles.
Dominic Parry, Saffron’s Managing Director, commented ‘We are delighted to have been identified by the EOE Coop as a brand they’d like to stock. We were so impressed with the Coops ‘Sourced Locally’ scheme and are very proud to join some of the other fantastic brands already stocked. We are always asked where consumers can buy our ice cream and this relationship will allow us to supply further within East Anglia’.
