Located on the outskirts of the picturesque village of Little Waltham, Little Channels Golf Club, which is part of the 300 acre parkland estate known as Channels, is strengthening its golfing credentials and aiming to become a bigger part of community life.
With a school programme, kids’ club and group classes, the plan is to bring accessible golf and social facilities to the local community.
The 9-hole Little Channels public Pay and Play course, with its 22 bay floodlit driving range and some of the best practice facilities in the area, already commands 5 star reviews for quality, facilities, the setting and condition of the course. Going forward, Little Channels is looking to attract the whole family to golf providing customer-focused facilities for all occasions and ages. They are always wanting to improve the experience of their visitors so they are looking into getting better equipment and Ace Driving Range Netting installation to improve safety.
Jason Levermore, PGA Professional Golfer and already a familiar face at Channels, will become Head of Golf at Little Channels. Jason (37) has been playing full time golf for the last 10 years and has competed in events around the world as well as on the European Tour’s Challenge Tour and Euro Pro Tour.
Jason will be working closely with Jack Cole and Matthew Mahoney – the team at The School of Golf (TSOG). Their junior programme has already successfully encouraged hundreds of youngsters to take up golf and the pair have developed young golfing talent and ability.
Although their sessions are focused on improvement, they are delivered in a fun, enjoyable environment, where skills are taught through drills and games. Similar programmes offered to adults with Jack and Matthew conducting group beginners and intermediate coaching sessions on a weekly basis along with individual coaching sessions.
Moreover, as part of these adult tuition sessions, aspiring golfers will be able to learn about the best clubs for their golfing ability. Ultimately, picking the right golf club to suit your size, strength and style is one of the most important factors for any golfer. Consequently, if you would like to learn more about some of the different types of golf clubs you can see here (golf wedges for mid-handicappers).
The TSOG Schools programme now involves over 16 schools in the Essex area and aims to create a positive team environment where coaches, parents and juniors work together.
In addition, The School of Golf runs birthday parties and holds golf camps during the school holidays; a unique and fun way for boys and girls who wish to experience playing golf to learn and improve golf skills, whilst making new friends and having fun.
With improved amenities planned for the wedding venue and restaurant at Little Channels, the venue is set to become a bigger part of the local community and reflects the ethos of Channels itself which will soon be hosting farmers, crafts, and Christmas markets as well as beer and music festivals, all of which can only create interest in the local area.
