Year 11 pupil, Hanna from William Edwards School, part of South West Essex Community Education Trust, is the author of an essay that has been published in the prestigious academic journal ‘The Scholar’ from The Brilliant Club.
The school is celebrating Hanna’s remarkable achievement, whose essay titled “How Can Sport Be Seen as a Political Act?” explores the intersection of sports and politics, examining how nationalism, social inequalities, and the perception of meritocracy can transform sporting events into political statements.
This remarkable achievement highlights Hanna’s academic prowess and dedication to exploring subjects beyond the standard curriculum.
Hanna took part in The Brilliant Club’s Scholars Programme, which provides pupils with university-style tutorials led by PhD tutors. The programme aims to cultivate essential academic skills and encourage ambitions for higher education.
‘The Scholar’ showcases the work of Brilliant Club pupils across the UK, recognising their commitment and introducing them to the process of research and publication.
