Renowned choreographer, director, and artistic innovator Professor Sir Wayne McGregor, CBE, was officially knighted by His Majesty, King Charles III in a prestigious investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle today, 1st April 2025.

The ceremony marked the presentation of his insignia, a symbol of knighthood, in recognition of his exceptional contributions to the arts, particularly in the field of contemporary dance and choreography. This distinguished honour, one of the highest accolades in the UK, celebrates Sir Wayne McGregor’s transformative and pioneering impact on the cultural landscape. Sir Wayne McGregor, CBE attended the ceremony with his partner, Antoine Vereecken and his parents, Ella and Lawrence McGregor.

Choreographer and Director Sir Wayne McGregor, CBE is internationally renowned for progressive innovations in performance that have radically redefined dance in the modern era. Driven by an insatiable curiosity about movement and its creative potentials, his experiments have led him into collaborative dialogue with an array of artistic forms, scientific disciplines, and technological interventions. The startling and multi-dimensional works resulting from these interactions have ensured McGregor’s position at the cutting edge of contemporary arts for over thirty years.
