Business leaders are being invited to attend a free one-day conference focussing on how to make their firms more sustainable and profitable.
Green Light: Business Success is being staged by Ambitious Essex – part of Essex County Council – to give businesses guidance on how to become greener while saving money and increasing their profits.
Net zero has been described as the ‘economic opportunity of the 21st century’. The conference will share with local businesses some of the many ways they can harness the power of sustainable solutions, technologies and incentives to support their business and its infrastructure while improving efficiency and profitability.
Topics covered during the event will include:
• net zero – what it is and what is means for your business
• green funding and grants
• sharing the message of your sustainability
• benefits of sustainability in winning work as a business
• how your business can benefit from new economic opportunities
A team of expert guest speakers and discussion leaders will offer insights and top tips to guide attendees on how to find the best benefits for their business.
Exhibitor stands will also share information about the benefits of sustainability for businesses. In addition, they will showcase practical solutions for the workplace, how to win grants and funding. Time will also be allocated for networking, with lunch provided.
Attendees will also have the chance to complete a Carbon Calculation and receive official documentation to confirm and promote their company’s commitment to a sustainable business ethos.
Councillor Peter Schwier, Essex County Council Climate Czar and Cabinet Member for Environment, Waste Reduction and Recycling, said: “This conference is a great opportunity for businesses to learn how to progress their journey to a greener and more sustainable future.

The free conference is being staged at The Lion in Boreham, Chelmsford, on Thursday 15 May. It will run from 9.30am to 2.30pm.
Lunch will be served at about 1pm with refreshments available throughout the day.
