Tendring swimming teachers are looking forward to holding lessons again at a popular pool which is set to reopen.

Swim2Swim teaches children the vital life skill of swimming from when they are babies to becoming strong, competent swimmers, with youngsters currently being taught at pools in Eight Ash Green and Great Tey, near Colchester. But Richard Sullivan, who runs Swim2Swim with his wife Karen, and their team, is looking forward to starting lessons again at the Primrose Pool in Ramsey.

Swim2Swim had taught children to swim at the pool for 15 years. However, the pool, which is set inside a converted cart lodge, was damaged after fire broke out last May and lessons had to be suspended. Now Richard and his team are looking forward to starting the lessons again now that work to repair the building has been completed.

Primrose Pool will open for private hire customers on Monday March 31 and Swim2Swim lessons will begin again on Monday April 21.

Richard said: “We are very excited to be resuming lessons at Primrose Pool. We are looking forward to welcoming many of our original swimmers who are keen to return, and we are also looking forward to welcoming new families to Primrose Pool.”

Pool owner Jim Macaulay said: “All at Primrose Pool are looking forward to welcoming Swim2Swim and all their clients back to the refurbished Primrose Pool. The sheer joy of learning how to swim and having confidence in the water are essential life skills.”

Richard added: “It is a beautiful pool. It is calm and the perfect environment for both teaching and learning. It is also warm, very well maintained and with high hygiene standards throughout. It is in a stunning location with ample parking and a separate viewing room to watch the lessons.”

Swim2Swim runs small group lessons, teaching children of all ages and abilities, starting with classes for babies and toddlers, where the learners are accompanied by an adult/carer. All lessons are delivered by water-based teachers, with the added benefit of only one class in the pool at one time.

Richard said: “We also work on water confidence, water safety and the children having fun in the pool. Swimming is such an important life skill, especially as we live near the coast. But it also has excellent benefits for mental and physical health and is good for children’s development. There is a social aspect too which is enjoyed by families.”

All Swim2Swim teachers are fully qualified, DBS checked and trained in safeguarding. They teach children of all ages and abilities. Adult lessons are available at Britannia Pool near Colchester. For further information on swimming lessons or Primrose Pool visit www.swim2swim.com.
