Essex-based producer, Fairfields Farm, renowned for its premium hand-cooked crisps and potatoes, is excited to announce that it has been selected as a finalist in the Net Zero Award category of the East Anglia Clean & Green Awards 2025.

The business is on track to achieve on-farm net zero by 2033, utilising regenerative farming techniques including planting woodland and cover crop to capture carbon and enhance biodiversity. It also relies on renewable energy to power its offices, which are located on-site in Wormingford, Essex.

Fairfields Farm has also created reservoirs and a closed-loop underground piping system to minimise energy consumption for water distribution. The farm also uses fertiliser produced as a byproduct from its on-site anaerobic digestion plant. The brand’s sustainability commitment extends beyond farming practices: its packaging is carbon neutral, solar panels support its office operations and the cooking oil used to prepare the crisps is collected to be repurposed into biodiesel.

Reflecting on this recognition, Robert Strathern, Co-founder of Fairfields Farm, commented “We are so pleased to be recognised in the Net Zero category at the East Anglia Clean & Green Awards. Our commitment to becoming a net zero business is one of our top priorities, and we are doing everything we can to reduce our carbon footprint across all aspects of our operations, making meaningful changes that contribute to a healthier planet. Our team is very excited to attend the awards ceremony in March, alongside other businesses making a difference to the environment.”
