Opticians spread the love for British Heart Foundation

TO celebrate Valentine’s Day, the team at Specsavers New Malden provided week-long fundraising events for British Heart Foundation.
Really getting in to the spirit of spreading the love across their community, the team all wore something red, and decorated the store with heart-shaped bunting and balloons. Customers joined in the celebrations by donating to the heart-shaped cookies on sale.

Store supervisor Karen Fitzgerald received a pot of miniature red roses in recognition of her excellent customer service, while a gentleman gifted the store team a bouquet of flowers.

Karina Kamal, retail director, says: ‘Both Bhavisha and I know someone who has had a heart condition, stroke or high blood pressure, so we wanted to make a difference and raise funds for British Heart Foundation, a charity that does so much to raise awareness around heart health and research into new treatments.

‘We all got into the Valentine’s theme of spreading the love in-store, chatting with customers and raising awareness – our customers really loved it.’

Optometrist director Bhavisha Patel comments: ‘It was a great week. We set ourselves the goal of raising £100 for the charity from our cookie sale. We were delighted to exceed this and instead we raised a total of £232.

‘So, we’re very grateful to the generosity of our customers and the team for their donations and creating a fun, lively atmosphere during Valentine’s week, all towards raising money for a worthy cause.’
