BarnesFarm Primary School, part of the Chelmsford Learning Partnership, welcomed local MP Marie Goldman to the school to celebrate the merger of two Chelmsford schools.
At the start of this academic year Barnes Farm Infant School and Barnes Farm Junior School joined to become Barnes Farm Primary School, facilitating a cohesive primary education for its pupils.
The school is marking the merger with ‘Friendship Week’, a week-long celebration encouraging pupils across year groups to make friends, bond and form reading partners. Chelmsford MP, Marie Goldman met pupils during the first assembly of the week to celebrate the new primary school.
Trust-level support from the Chelmsford Learning Partnership enabled the construction of a new school building in 2022 which will now help to bridge the gap between year groups by providing spacious classrooms for pupils in both Year 1 and Year 6.
Paul Banks, Chief Executive Officer at the Chelmsford Learning Partnership said: “As a Trust, we are proud to have supported this exciting merger and ensure the continuation of quality primary years education for children in the local community. It has been amazing to witness two school communities come together and enjoy the vibrant learning environment this has facilitated for pupils. This merger will help to remove the disruption of changing schools between the infant and junior years and enable teachers to get to know every pupil’s needs and abilities as they progress through primary school.”
Zanya Farmer, Headteacher at Barnes Farm Primary School, said: “This merger solidifies our ambition to fully prepare children for their next steps in education and, eventually, the wider world. We are excited to provide an enriching and engaging education that will enhance every pupil’s educational journey with a cohesive primary education that allows children to excel with their learning and develop strong relationships with pupils and teachers.”
