Lavanya Lokesh Kumar from Halstead joined the care industry three years ago and has seen her career flourish. Lavanya is now encouraging others to follow in her footsteps and consider a career in care.

Lavanya works for ivolve Care, one of the UK’s largest adult social care providers.

Although only in her first job in the care sector, Lavanya has seen her career grow. Her passion for caring for others and drive to provide the best care possible has made this possible.

Lavanya said: “A career in care is an extremely rewarding one. It’s an industry I feel lucky to be a part of and one I’d recommend to anyone considering it.

“Each day provides its own unique challenges which is one of the main reasons I love my role. We allow our clients to make their own decisions on what they want to do each day. By doing so, we support them to live as independent a life as possible.”

Since joining ivolve Care in 2021, Lavanya has worked her way to Deputy Manager. She progressed from Support Worker to Team Leader, and then to Deputy Manager all within her first two years.

Her responsibilities have changed over this period. From being hands on providing the care for one individual, to overseeing the day-to-day running of the home and managing support workers.

Lavanya continued: “When I discuss my career development with my manager, I get all I need to achieve my personal goals.

“Anyone who is empathetic, kind and patient can create a fulfilling career in care. If you are authentic and have clear goals, the sky is the limit. A career in care can be exactly what you want it to be.

“A career in care combines excellent career progression and satisfaction from supporting others. That is what makes it a truly special job.”

Councillor John Spence, Cabinet Member for Health and Social Care at Essex County Council said: “In talking about her experiences, Lavanya has expressed far more eloquently than I could just how fulfilling a career in care can be.. Her experience speaks volumes: of the fulfilment, career development and job satisfaction; the ability to make a real difference to the lives of the people you support.

“Whether it’s working in a team, independently, in a care setting or in people’s own homes, there are a range of roles open across the county. “Day in, day out, extraordinary people are doing extraordinary things, to help others lead fulfilling lives. You can join them by applying now for a rewarding future and a career you’ll be proud of.”

There are opportunities for people of all ages within the care sector. Roles are open to those starting their career, who already have experience or are looking for a career change.
