It’s official: Even when the steaks are high, Aldi’s steak range prevails. Experts have awarded the nation’s cheapest supermarket[1] more awards at the 2024 World Steak Challenge than Waitrose or M&S[2]. The discounter has taken home three coveted gold medals and 11 medals overall at the toughly fought contest to find the nation’s best steak.

Aldi’s Specially Selected British Wagyu Fillet Steak (£8.49, 170g) secured a tough-to-achieve gold accolade in the fillet steak category. The tender, British-reared steak was ranked as one of England’s best, coming up trumps over Marks & Spencer’s fillet steak offering, which achieved a silver medal, and that of Waitrose, which was only awarded bronze.

Meanwhile, Aldi’s British ribeye steak range also came out on top, with the Specially Selected British Wagyu Wagyu Ribeye Steak (£7.49, 0.2kg) amongst the three gold medal winners.

Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi UK, says: “What could be better than a perfectly cooked steak? As the nation’s biggest supplier of British beef, we’re constantly striving to ensure our British steak range is not only great value, but premium in taste as well, so that our shoppers can enjoy the luxury of great steak from home. This set of accolades from the World Steak Challenge reflects just this – highlighting our ongoing commitment to providing the best tasting British beef on the market.”

Aldi’s full range of award-winning steaks can be picked up in stores now.
