Mid and North East Essex Mind is seeking enthusiastic volunteers to support the new North East Essex Sanctuary.
The new Sanctuary will offer a safe space for people to access support when dealing with challenging moments in their lives. Centres will open in Colchester and Clacton, as well as providing support by phone and email contact.
The Sanctuary will embed itself in the local community and is calling upon local people to step forward and volunteer.
Ginny Idehen, CEO of Mid and North East Essex Mind, explains: “We’re on the search for hardworking volunteers who are keen to support this new service in their community. The Sanctuary has a number of voluntary roles on offer from meeting and greeting people to helping deliver a wide range of activities.”
She continued: “If you have experience of speaking to people with mental health conditions or supporting people within the community, then we would love to hear from you. If you volunteer with us, you’ll play a vital role by helping our support workers to deliver our services and assisting people at a difficult time in their lives.
“Volunteering is extremely rewarding and helps to make a positive difference to the lives of others. If you have spare time to volunteer, perhaps once a week, please help us to support better mental health in our local community.”
The charity is very keen to hear from people who have empathy, communication skills, a friendly ear and have an interest or experience in supporting people with mental health conditions. We would also like to hear from people who want to learn new skills. Volunteers should be friendly and approachable, have a desire to give back to their local community, and can commit to providing support once a week. All volunteers will receive full training on how to support people with their mental health. If this sounds like you, Mid and North East Essex Mind wants to hear from you.
