As Halloween approaches, award-winning country house hotel, Down Hall Hotel, Spa & Estate in Essex is embracing the spooky season with a range of thrilling experiences. From Friday 25th October to Friday 1st November, enjoy open-air film screenings, live music on the lawn, and a devilishly delightful afternoon tea.
OPEN AIR CINEMA SCREENINGS
Set within the hotel’s 110-acre garden beneath the dark night sky, the hotel’s open-air cinema in partnership with Enchanted Cinema returns for a spooktacular weekend of Halloween-themed adult and family-friendly films, including: Ghostbusters (26th October), The Shining (26th October), The Night Before Christmas (27th October), Edward Scissorhands (27th October), with early evening shows starting from 5.30pm, and the later screening at 8pm.
With tickets priced at just £10 per person, sit back in your comfy deck chair, get cosy with blankets and hot water bottles and enjoy a selection of alfresco food and drinks during the screenings. From dedicated street food stalls serving up freshly prepared stone baked pizza to much-loved classic cocktails and bubbles from the hotel’s outdoor Horsebox Bar, settle in for a night under the stars and prepare to be spooked! Children are encouraged to get into the Halloween spirit and dress up in their favourite costume, with adults welcome to join in too!

A-LIVE FROM THE LAWN – LIVE MUSIC NIGHT, 25TH OCTOBER
Enjoy an evening of live music on Friday 25th October for a spine-tingling DJ set; A-Live From The Lawn on the hotel’s expansive terrace. Party with ghosts and ghouls, whilst feasting on delicious cocktails and fangtastic food offerings. Music from 7pm-9:30pm. The evening is free to attend however bookings are recommended. HALLOWEEN AFTERNOON TEA, 25TH OCTOBER – 1ST NOVEMBER
Priced at £40 per adult during the week and £42.50 on weekends (children can enjoy for half price), delve into a delicious afternoon tea and sink your fangs into a ghoulishly good spread of eerie treats. Featuring autumnal delights such as caramelised red onion and brie tart, spiced pumpkin mousse and apple and blackberry choux, don’t miss this spooktacular seasonal special.
