A new, funded Parent and Baby exercise class is launching at Braintree Swimming & Fitness. The new classes, starting on 11th September are being run by Fusion Lifestyle in partnership with Muscle-Mind Care CIC and Braintree District Council.

The 45-minute classes, for pregnant women and new parents, will take place every Wednesday from 10.30 to 11.15am

The classes are specifically designed for pregnant women and new mums and dads who are facing mental health and other health challenges, including high BMI, gestational diabetes, PND, and preeclampsia.

The free 45-minute classes will be limited to ten spaces per week, delivering a circuit workout, suitable for all fitness levels, especially designed for pre and postnatal women and new fathers. Children up to the age of 18 months can attend and all equipment, toys, and playmats will be provided.

Emma Carpenter the CEO and head coach for Muscle-Mind Care said:
“This class is a fantastic opportunity for parents to be and new parents to improve their physical and mental health while meeting like-minded people. As a new Mum and first-time parent, myself, every day is a learning curve, and it can be easy to feel isolated with the weight of responsibility. Caring for your baby can be challenging, even when you have the support of a family. Our objective in putting on this class is to build a community where no parent feels alone, and they can connect with others.”

Richard Moss Community and Health Engagement Manager for Fusion said:
“The Fusion team is excited to be hosting these new classes. We’re keen to develop our community health offer and to enable families to become more active together. Connecting new and expecting parents to our facilities is vital in building a positive health culture and empowering people to improve their overall health and well-being. Self-Care when you’re a new parent is so important and often overlooked.”
