City & Country, the award-wining developer building new homes at Manningtree Park in Manningtree and Sanderling Reach on West Mersea Island, both in Essex, is honouring this year’s Commonwealth anniversary celebrations by becoming an official partner of The Commonwealth at 75, a commemorative publication produced by The History of Parliament and St James’s House to be launched at Westminster Abbey in November 2024.
Exploring the origins, history, and impact of the Commonwealth, the fully illustrated publication celebrates the 75th anniversary of the family of nations and the ideas, individuals and organisations that have contributed to its success. The book also marks the appointment of King Charles III as Head of the Commonwealth.
Established 75 years ago, the Commonwealth is an association of 56 member states with a combined population of 2.5 billion citizens, representing almost a third of the world’s population. Spanning Africa, Asia, the Americas, Europe, and the Pacific, Commonwealth countries are diverse, ranging from some of the world’s largest to smallest nations, and from the richest to the poorest, showcasing myriad cultures and religions. The theme for this year is ‘One Resilient Common Future: Transforming our Common Wealth’.
The limited-edition hardback publication will feature an exclusive interview with Tim Sargeant, Chairman at City & Country Wayne Douglas, Managing Director, and Shelley West, Group Sales and Marketing Director. The trust has published over 40 volumes to date and is generally regarded as one of the most ambitious, authoritative, and well-researched academic projects in British history.
Wayne Douglas, Managing Director at City & Country, added: “We are honoured to be celebrating the Commonwealth as it turns 75 and to be part of an international celebration of culture and diversity around the world. At City & Country, we truly support the 16 core beliefs that make up the Charter of the Commonwealth. The Commonwealth is an inspirational organisation and marks the unity, diversity, and shared values across the 56 countries and the invaluable work of countries that remain united in their commitment to delivering a resilient and common future across the world.”
