WRS Insurance Brokers are delighted to be sponsoring the Local Community Initiative Award in the new Benefact Group Charity Heroes Awards. The Awards are new to the Benefact Group calendar of giving and designed to celebrate and support charities working tirelessly to make positive change.

The Local Community Initiative Award sets out to celebrate a project which has reached the heart of a local community to tackle a local issue.

WRS Insurance Brokers’ Head of Broking & Operations, Gungor Baykan says: “With over 50 years’ experience in insuring charities, social care and community enterprises, we are delighted to be supporting local charities in the new Charity Heroes Awards. The Local Community Initiative Award recognises and supports local, community charities for whom receiving the £5,000 winners award, or one of the £1,000 runner-up awards will make such a difference to the work they do. Many of our clients are small, community charities so we have an understanding of the challenges they face and how just valuable this opportunity is.”

The Charity Heroes Awards offer a simple entry process, requiring just a 250-word pitch for each of the six award categories; Local Community Initiative, Climate Action Project, Volunteer of the Year, Small Charity – Big Impact, Charity Leader of the Year and Digital Fundraising Initiative.

The Charity Heroes Awards are open to charities based in the UK and Ireland. Entries are open until Friday 26th July. Winning charities will be awarded £5,000 and runners up will receive £1,000. Charities are invited to apply online via a quick and simple form for one of the six awards categories.

The awards ceremony will be a lunchtime Awards event held on 28th November at the Tower of London, where the winners and runners-up in each category will be announced. The day promises to provide a truly memorable experience for all those shortlisted.

Mark Hews, Group Chief Executive of Benefact Group, says: “We are delighted to announce the launch of Benefact Group’s Charity Heroes Awards 2024.
