Mid and North East Essex Mind announce date for annual firewalk in Chelmsford

Local mental health charity Mid and North East Essex Mind is challenging people to get out of their comfort zone and take part in their annual Firewalk to raise much-needed funds for the charity.

The Firewalk will take place for the third consecutive year on World Mental Health Day (Thursday 10 October) at Anglia Ruskin University, Writtle Campus, Chelmsford. The event is being billed as a ‘life-changing’ experience and fundraisers are being encouraged to do something different and discover their ‘true strength’.

The Firewalk is just a few metres long but offers a big mental challenge which ensures participants call upon their inner strength to complete the walk.

Ginny Idehen, CEO, Mid and North East Essex Mind, is supporting the event. She says: ”The real power of a Firewalk is the preparation before the walk; it shows what can be achieved with the power of the mind. The training participants will receive before their Firewalk will let them realise the true strength within them, and underlines what the mind can achieve with the right guidance.”

Ginny adds: “The Firewalk is a great way to mark World Mental Health Day as it shows what is possible when you understand how the mind works. Once that is grasped the skills can be applied in our everyday lives and make a real difference to the quality of our lives.”

Participants will be required to pay a £35 registration fee (or £120 for a team of four), which will include a wood fired oven pizza of their choice whilst at the event, and a certificate commemorating their firewalk. Firewalkers are also encouraged to raise £100 for Mid and North East Essex Mind. The event will run on Thursday 10 October between 6pm – 9pm. Spaces are limited, and early sign-up is encouraged.

The Mid and North East Essex Mind firewalk at Writtle University College is sponsored by The Hunnaball Family Funeral Group.
