Local developer City & Country has completed works to provide a new junction to its Manningtree Park development in Essex. The upgraded works involved undertaking several improvements to Long Road (B1352) for the local community and crucially, improved pedestrian access and the creation of a brand-new cycle way.
The new pedestrian access and three-metre-wide footway and cycleway, along the roads length (approximately 298m), will enable safe access to neighbouring villages, while an accompanying pedestrian crossing adds an extra element of safety. Other improvements to Long Road (B1352) include an upgrade of two existing bus stops providing easier transport for local residents and the wider community in and out of Manningtree. Street lighting has been upgraded to ensure visibility at night, and the new improved road will also include a new vehicular entrance onto the Manningtree Park development giving residents easier, smoother access into their homes.
Marking the success, City & Country representatives gathered on Thursday 11th July to unveil the new road. In attendance was Regional Development Director (East), Marco Sidoli, Design Manager Lee Kirtland, the development’s Build Manager Sam Chilvers, and Commercial Manager Ross Gavaghan. All of whom have been instrumental in ensuring the works were completed on time.
Marco Sidoli, Regional Development Director (East), commented, “After a few months of planned works to deliver the essential upgrades to Long Road, as agreed with Essex Highways and the local authority, we are now able to open the new junction. The goal has always been to enhance the design, accessibility and biodiversity of Manningtree Park. Open spaces, which makes up nearly a quarter (22%) of our development, will connect Long Road via a tree-planted streetscape to a new village-style green with a farm shop and café at the heart of our development for the benefit of whole community.”
Built with placemaking in mind, Manningtree Park will not only provide high-quality homes but plenty of places for the community to meet and come together. Once complete, the development will include a farm shop, café, natural playground and designated off lead dog walking area.
Prices for the new phase start from £285,000 for a one-bedroom Furze home and rise to £899,000 for a four-bedroom Thundersley home. Homes from the first release are also still available, with selected properties ready to move into now.
