Essex Village Community Celebrates Successful Purchase Of Historic Pub And Launches Mini Share Offer To Improve Accessibility

The Roxwell Chequers Community Benefit Society Ltd (RCCBS) continues to build on the successful purchase of the historic Chequers pub by the community. Refurbishment efforts are well underway, and RCCBS is dedicated to making the pub as accessible as possible for all members of the community.

In a significant step toward this goal, RCCBS has been awarded a grant from The Tom Amos Charity to install a disabled toilet in the pub. This grant, however, is contingent on raising the balance of funds required. To achieve this, RCCBS has initiated a new mini share offer, seeking to raise £10,000, providing an opportunity for those who missed the initial share offer to participate by joining hundreds of others in becoming part owners and contributing to the enhancement of the pub’s accessibility.

The new mini share offer is open now and will close on 31 July. This is a unique chance for community members and supporters to invest in the Chequers Pub and help create an even more inclusive community space.

Nick Swift, Secretary of RCCBS, said, “We are delighted with the progress we’ve made so far in bringing the Chequers Pub back to life. We are very grateful to the Tom Amos Charity for the grant which they have made, since ensuring that the pub is accessible in every way to all members of our community is a top priority. The installation of a disabled toilet is a crucial part of our refurbishment plans, and we are counting on the support of the community to help us meet the funding requirement. By participating in this mini share offer, you can help us achieve this important goal and be part of making the Chequers Pub an even more welcoming place for everyone.”
