Festival of The Girl is back and bigger than ever! The tickets for their 2024 event are being launched this Friday in celebration of International Women’s Day.
Festival of The Girl is a ground-breaking event designed especially for girls aged 7-11. The not-for-profit aims to inspire, engage and to break down harmful gender stereotypes for girls and their families.
This year they have announced the festival will be doubling in size going from a one-day event to a weekend long event meaning they can invite over 1000 girls to take part. They are also running their first session created for girls with SEND and their families, doing everything they can to make the festival accessible to everyone. And not only that, this year they are launching their first ever Festival of The Girl Awards. An award ceremony created for girls to celebrate other girls.
The 2024 Festival of The Girl will take place on Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th October at the Business Design Centre, Islington North London. To make sure no one misses out they have a pay-what-you-can option.
The key aim of the festival is for families and society to start the gender stereotype conversation before they become too ingrained. Their increasingly popular global interactive festivals give primary school aged girls access to an incredible line up of female role models, workshops and activities. They are safe environments where girls have fun, try something new, and most importantly; leave with a boost of self-confidence.
The Line-Up will be announced in the lead up to the festival.
Although aimed at girls, everyone is welcome.
This festival is particularly important in light of 2023 research from Girlguiding showing that girls’ happiness levels are at an all-time low (e.g. 89% of girls aged 7-21 feel generally worried or anxious[SC1] ).

As well as their annual festival in October they will be running their Festival of The Girl Grows Up event for adults in June, the topic being ‘safety online and navigating phones and social media with your kids’. They are also hoping to run their first festival pop-up in Manchester later in October. And finally, there is their free activity book which includes brilliant activities, inspiring women and creative games with a feminist twist which will be ready to order in time for the summer holidays.
