The date for this year’s annual Burnham on Crouch 10k run has been announced for this October. This popular running event, which is organised by The Rotary Club of Burnham on Crouch and Dengie Hundred, is scheduled for Sunday 13th October 2024 and will commence at 10am from the Riverside Park.
Burnham Waters is pleased to announce that it will again, be sponsoring the annual Burnham on Crouch 10k run, which always proves a popular community event.
Both parties are encouraging participants to sign up for the event and if possible, to seek their own sponsorship for their charities. Profits from the 10k run will support a series of local charities being supported by The Rotary Club, including The Essex Air Ambulance, Little Havens Hospice and The Sick Children’s Trust.
Neil Yates, President of The Rotary Club of Burnham on Crouch and Dengie Hundred, said: “The 10k run is a flat, single-lap, super-scenic course, which is a great way to get active, have some fun and to raise funds for some really worthwhile, local causes. You don’t need to be a serious athlete, there is plenty of time to get a few friends together and to get in a bit of training over the summer months!”
Ian Holloway, Project Director, Burnham Waters added: “We are absolutely delighted to be supporting the Rotary Club 10k again this year. It’s a great event that really brings everyone together and showcases all that is on offer in Burnham on Crouch. It is so important to keep active, whatever your age and we hope that we may even have a few new residents from Burnham Waters opting to take part this autumn!”
Last year the event raised over £9,000 for charity, in addition to that raised by runners.
The 10k is popular with runners because of its varied route, which offers views of the coastal paths on the sea wall of the Dengie peninsula as well as picturesque trails across open countryside, and sections through the main streets of the town. Runners are encouraged to obtain sponsorship to raise funds for good causes, or to just join and have fun.
Participation in the Burnham on Crouch 10k is £20 per person if booked in advance, or £25 on the day. To find out more and to book your place, visit: https://www.atwevents.co.uk/e/burnham-on-crouch-10k-9183
