Mid and North East Essex Mind, the local mental health charity, is bringing a new free training product to Clacton, Harwich, Brightlingsea, and online to all, across north east Essex.

The Mental Health Toolkit has been developed by Suffolk Mind to help people manage their own mental wellbeing. The training programme has gained some impressive results. 98% of people who’ve undertaken the course found it worthwhile, 97% planned to support themselves with their mental health post training, whilst 92% wanted to share their new skills with team members at work.

The series of training courses will be free-of-charge, thanks to the support of North East Essex Health and Wellbeing Alliance. The training sessions will start on 6 February with further dates to follow around the region, offering the choice of in person and online sessions.

Ginny Idehen, CEO, Mid and North East Essex Mind, said: “We are thrilled and excited to be partnering with our neighbouring local Mind in Suffolk to bring to our region The Mental Health Toolkit by Suffolk Mind. These fully funded sessions across Tendring have been made possible thanks to the generous funding of the North East Essex Health and Wellbeing Alliance, who working in partnership with us want to support the communities in Tendring to better look after their mental health”.

One¹ in four adults and one in 10 children experience mental illness, with many other people caring and supporting people with stress, anxiety or depression. New data also revealed that 18 million² workdays are currently lost with employees off sick with mental ill health issues, which is costing the country a fortune.

The Mental Health Toolkit: The Essentials is a foundation course that teaches individuals and teams the tools and techniques to look after their own mental health and those around them. The half day workshop will provide a taste of the approach, to give attendees the chance to look at their mental health differently and see if the course is right for them.

Bookings can be made for the funded sessions at www.mnessexmind.org/training, or by emailing [email protected] or calling 01206 764600.
