The adult education provider is hosting events for businesses to network and find out more about apprenticeships at ACL Essex.

As part of National Apprenticeship Week (5-11 February), ACL Essex will be hosting business networking events in Basildon and Colchester for businesses to come together, network, and find out about the apprenticeships that ACL Essex delivers.

The events aim to provide businesses with detailed information and guidance that will support them to take on apprentices and help their current employees to develop their skills. Attendees can also learn more about the Apprenticeship Levy and the Essex Apprenticeship Levy Transfer Service and how this can be used to fund apprenticeship training.

ACL Essex offers apprenticeships across the county and they are available all year round. The adult education provider offers over 25 different apprenticeship standards at levels 2 through to 5 that can be accessed by existing staff or to fill new roles. These include opportunities in leadership and management, administration, project management, facilities, health and care, customer service, information technology, early years and warehousing.

Councillor Tony Ball, Essex County Council’s Cabinet Member for Education Excellence, Lifelong Learning and Employability, said: “Apprenticeships help increase productivity, ensure employee retention and job satisfaction, and improve employees’ English, maths and digital skills. Businesses can really benefit from taking on apprentices and upskilling their current employees.

“Supporting employees in their development helps them to hone their strengths and skills. This can help them in their current role and with future progression, leading to direct benefits for your business.

“If you’ve been thinking about taking on an apprentice, but are completely new to the process, then the Business Networking Breakfast is the perfect opportunity to learn more. Come along, engage with other local businesses, and see what we can do to support you.”

The Business Networking Breakfast will take place from 8am to 11am on Tuesday 6 February at ACL Essex Colchester, Wilson Marriage, CO1 2LR in the new ACL Digital Hub, and on Friday 9 February at ACL Essex Basildon, Lifelong Learning Centre, SS14 3SG.
