Cabinet reshuffle has ‘refreshed the party’ claims new Tory chairman

THE Prime Minister’s reshuffle has “refreshed” the Conservative party, new chairman Richard Holden has said.

He told GB News: “It’s really good and you can see a strong and united party coming together now for the future and we’ve got those big aims that the Prime Minister’s already outlined.

“There’ll be some big decisions on those coming up this week. We’ve seen a real push to get inflation down, we’ve got some numbers coming up on that on Wednesday, we wanted to halve it by the end of the year, we’ve made some really good progress, but there’s further still to go.

“Obviously, we’ve got the court case around Rwanda happening later this week as well, but we’ve made huge progress and…that’s why this reshuffle was really a refresh of the party, as well.”

In a discussion during Breakfast with Eamonn Holmes and Isabel Webster, he continued: “David Cameron brings huge experience as well…so we have that broad party.

“That’s what’s so important that we can take a united and strong party, a broad party, concentrating on the priorities of the British people into the next General Election.”

He added: “We’ve got a really strong tradition of aspiration from whatever background you’re from in the Conservative Party and I think that’s something that I want to see championed.

“I think it’s something that the Prime Minister is championing in government as he delivers on those priorities which affect my constituents in Northwest Durham, as much as it affects people across the rest of the country.

“Like getting inflation down, which is so important, getting economic growth, stopping the boats, all of those things are really important. They’re not just important in one part of the country, they’re important for the whole country.”
