Walk the Grand Green Tour of Harlow

Harlow Council has partnered with Go Jauntly, the multi-award winning walking and wayfinding app, to develop The Grand Green Tour of Harlow walking route, as part of the council’s priorities to restore pride in Harlow and improve council services.

The Grand Green Tour of Harlow is an 8-mile route starting and finishing at Harlow Museum and Walled Gardens. It is an epic loop around Harlow that takes approximately 4.5 hours to complete, using pictures and descriptions rather than a map to provide directions.

The route encourages residents and visitors to explore Harlow Town Park, stroll along the River Stort and connect with nature. As well as providing interesting facts about Harlow’s history along the way.

Residents can also explore five mini routes which branch off from the main walk and can be completed as smaller achievable jaunts of less than 45 minutes.

The five mini green routes are:

A Mini Green Tour of Harlow
A Short Tour of Harlow’s Waterways
Gentle Jaunt in Jean McAlpine Park
Parndon Mill to Eastwick Trail
Take a lap around Oakwood Pond

To access the walks for free, download the Go Jauntly app from the Apple App store or Google Play on your smart phone.

Councillor Stacy Seales, portfolio holder for community, said: “As part of the council’s priorities to restore pride in Harlow and improve council services, we are delighted to be working with Go Jauntly again to provide more ways for residents to access and enjoy the amazing green spaces in Harlow.

“There are many positive physical and mental health benefits to walking and the new walking routes provide a great opportunity for residents to get fit for free, as well as explore and learn more about Harlow’s history.”

Hana Sutch, CEO and Co-Founder at Go Jauntly, said: “Inspired by our Harlow 75 celebration walking challenge last year, we’ve designed a brand-new circular walk around the outskirts of the town which showcases all of Harlow’s lovely parks and green spaces. Search ‘The Grand Green Tour of Harlow’ in-app or use the app to explore the new shorter family-friendly walks.”
